A small sample of your blood is spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, the cells that carry your body's own repair and growth signals. That concentrate is then injected across the thinning areas of your scalp, at the level of the follicles themselves.
The aim is to improve the environment around follicles that have weakened and shortened their growth cycle, so they hold on to hair for longer and produce a thicker one.
We look at your scalp and go through the pattern of the thinning with you, then take a small blood sample the way any blood test is taken and spin it while you wait.
The scalp is then treated with a series of small injections. That is the part people ask about most: the scalp is sensitive, numbing is used, and most people find it very manageable.
The scalp is tender and can feel tight, and there may be small marks where the injections went in. Washing, styling product and anything harsh on the scalp are off the list for a while. We tell you exactly when you can wash it and what to use before you leave.
